To help us ensure this, we are having trained “drug dogs” visit our school this year. The dogs are trained to detect a variety of substances. Both the dogs and their handlers are highly trained and experienced in working around students and schools.
We have utilized drug dog searches in previous years and have found them to provide a strong deterrent for possession of illegal substances at school. Their presence promotes an environment where possession of drugs or alcohol at school is unacceptable. Should the dog detect an illegal substance at the school, administration will investigate and take further appropriate action. Parents (and law enforcement) will be notified if there are illegal substances here at school.
If you have questions about this procedure, please contact Mr. Rindt or Mr. Hilmes at 653-2725.

1) Direct your web browser to www.nvsd.org. The most current information on school closure and delay will be located there.
2) Check out a local media outlet (TV: KAPP, KIMA, KNDO) (Radio: 1280 KIT, 980 KUSA) for information.
While we're happy to answer your questions about closures or delays, our secretaries are often very busy on inclement weather days and our phone calls back up.

1) Parents of 7th and 8th graders arrive five minutes later (2:40) to pick up their children. This will cut down on traffic in the parking lot right at dismissal.
2) NO PARKING in the narrow roadway coming in or out of the lot. This creates congestion and an unsafe situation. We realize this is a hassle, but drive around town for a couple of minutes to let cars exit and then come in to the lot to pick up your child once traffic has thinned out.
3) Students should not cross the busy parking lot area.
4) Please pull forward if a car in front of you leaves.
5) Have your child ride the bus home whenever possible.
Thanks for helping us keep our parking lot safe in the afternoon.
